Whiskey Foxtrot's Tom Petty Tribute

Earlier this week Seth and I were going into the studio with Doug Davis to lay down some lead guitar tracks on my record. This was the same day that the reports started to come in about Tom Petty's passing. We all agreed to cut one of his tracks, and decided on "You Wreck Me." You can hear it via the link at the bottom of this post.

This was purely a salute to one of my greatest influences, let alone the legacy Petty left on American music in general. Regardless of how my musical tastes have changed over the years, I've always had a special place for Tom Petty. I remember being 12 years old the first time I heard him, thanks to one of my cousins. The first song I ever heard was "American Girl."

I dabbled in hard rock/metal over the years and went through my "punk/skater-kid phase," but when I came back to what I do now Petty was a major influence on my music. His first few records have played a part in helping me through some rough patches in the last 4-5 years especially.

Thank you Tom Petty for all the great records over the years. I hope our take on your song did it justice.
